t-shirt issue 14:
What You See Is What You See

Frank Stella is one of the world’s most famous artists. Now living that is. Amongst other things he’s known for stating the following phrase in an interview back in 1966 when he was asked about the meaning of his work: “What you see is what you see”.

Clear and simple is not a usual commodity in the world of art so this is widely appreciated by the commoners like us who just like a handsome painting.

Some of Frank’s work can now be seen on the Wetterling Gallery in Stockholm. The exhibition contains sculptures that, according to the artist himself, symbolize cigarette smoke. But who knows what you see in the creations and who knows what you see in this T-shirt. Once again: What you see is what you see.
